At the first moment of 2010, I was seeing "Avatar" with my ex-students of AHSNCCU. When the movie ended, I could not help thinking " It's way too amazing, Jack. What a wonderful thing it would be if I could have a similar experience like Jack." But the thought disappeared and I falled into the reality as soon as I stepped out from the movie theater cause there was trash everywhere left after the exciting final count-down.
Happiness lasts in a short time. But isn't it ok?
Happy new year! And pray my step-down from the administative position, you guys.

二零一零年的第一時間，我在看阿凡達，與我一起的是之前政大附中的學生．當電影散場時，我不得不在想"這實在是太神奇了，傑克．如果我能像傑克一樣有類似的體驗不知該有多好．"不過，當我一步出戲院，這念頭旋即消失，我跌回了現實，因為到處都是熱血的倒數之後留下來的垃圾．快樂總是來得短暫．但這有何妨呢?

First experience in Green Garden 綠園初體驗

It has been about two months since I became a member of Green Garden. Getting along with piles of women and girls seems to be my destiny(note that I have 3 sisters without any brother and they were in power with my mum in my family—before my nephews were born), so I can easily do with them in peace and survive in the Green Garden. The only thing that makes me feel uneasy is my administrative appointment as section chief of research, Academic Office, and I am just not suitable for the position because of my out-of-trammels personality. I swear that I’ll escape from the position as possible as I could 10 months later.

成為綠園的一份子約莫兩個月了．與成堆的女人及女孩相處似乎是我的宿命(請注意我有三個姊姊，沒有任何兄弟，在我外甥出世前，家裡是由她們和我媽當道)，因此，我可以輕易地與她們在綠園和平相處，並且存活下來．唯一令我不自在的是我的行政職位—教務處實驗研究組長．這職位實在是不適合我—因為我不受羈絆的個性所致．我發誓，十個月後我一定會盡我所能地逃離這個職位．

All Typhoon Morak’s fault 都是莫拉克惹的禍

I’ve been to many townships by bike in preparation for rounding the Taiwan island since last update. Everything was okay until Typhoon Morak came. It’s much better to break my round-the –Taiwan plan in comparison with inflicting severe damage on the southern Taiwan. Although traveling on the occasion makes me feel rather guilty, I still had a trip with my students to Hualian and Green Island as a memorial to quitting partnership. As to the disaster caused by Typhoon Morak, all I could do is to contribute some money and pray that the dead would rest in peace and the live would have peace of mind.

自從上次更新網誌之後，我騎單車去過許多鄉鎮，為環島做準備．一切無礙直到莫拉克颱風襲來．比起重創南台灣，它打壤我的環島計劃算是好太多了．雖然此刻去旅行讓我覺得有些內疚，不過，我仍和學生去了趟花蓮和綠島，作為分道揚鑣的紀念．至於莫拉克風災，我所能做的就是捐點錢，並祈禱死者安息，生者安心．

Went bike-riding with my students 4 times over the past 10 days, I ushered them from Wu-lai to Xiao-yi to Wu-lai, Tu-cheng to Da-xi to Tu-cheng, Xin-dian to Wu-lai to Xin-dian, and She-zhi to Dan-shui to Ba-li to Lu-zhou to Shan-chong to She-zhi. The sun shined hotly and the rapid ridings made us sweat profusely in the journeys, we enjoyed the trips quite much though--especially when we ate shaved ice after finishing half of each tour .

近十天來和我的學生去騎了四趟單車，我帶他們從烏來騎至孝義返回新店，土城到大溪回土城，新店到烏來回新店，還有社子到淡水--八里--蘆洲--三重回社子．在這幾趟旅程中，太陽毒辣地照著，快速的騎乘也令我們汗如雨下，然而我們卻頗享受這幾個行程--特別是我們完成每趟旅途的一半，吃起剉冰的時候．

With the end of the 2009 College Entrance Examination, my heavy duty, to keep the 2nd senior high graduates of the Affiliated High School of National Chengchi University academically achievable, dropped the curtain. It occupied most of my mental and physical efforts more than one year, but brought me great satisfaction. Now, it's time to let my blog keep going and say " Farewell, AHSNCCU".

隨著2009年大學指考的結束，我的重責大任----讓政大附中第二屆高中畢業生學業有成----也畫上了句點．這事佔據了我一年多以來大半的心力，不過卻給了我很大的滿足快樂．現在，是時候讓我的網誌繼續下去，並說聲"再會了，政大附中"．

A day on the riverside 河濱散記

Went riding a bicycle today with my ex-colleagues, two of my best friends, through the Fu-zhou Bridge to the Shi-san-hang Museum of Archeology and around. We rode toward Shi-san-hang on the left of Da-han and Dan-Shui River, and returned on the right. The route was more than 60 km long and quite suitable for a one-day trip, with views of marshes and tidal flats. Besides, all kinds of bicycles could be seen on the bikeway, including my favorite--Dahon mu P24, a type many persons dreamed of for its fine foldable design. Although it's overhcast and rainy so that our clothes got wet and dry alternately, we insisted on finishing the trip, going home with dirt on whole body.

今天和我的舊同事（同時也是我的兩位好朋友）去騎自行車，從浮洲橋至十三行博物館，然後折回．我們朝十三行前進時，騎在大漢溪和淡水河的左岸，回程走了右岸．這個路線超過60公里長，非常適合作為一日遊，沿途有沼澤和潮間帶的景致．此外，還可以看見形形色色的自行車，包括我的最愛－－Dahon mu P24（由於它精巧的摺疊設計，成為許多人的夢幻逸品）．雖然，今天是個陰雨天，我們的衣服乾了又濕，濕了又乾，不過，我們堅持騎完全程，回家自然帶著滿身髒污．

Canto of Sarah Brightman 莎拉布萊蔓的美聲

Dwelled in the soft, beautiful and peri-like voice of Sarah Brightman for several nights. I even bought a FM transmitter, trying to send her music to my auto radio so that I can enjoy it when going on and off duty. But what’s bad is that all of the frequency channels are occupied by broadcasting stations, especially underground ones. Could somebody restrain these underground radio stations, MY GREAT GOVERNMENT INFORMATION OFFICE? They promote and sell illegal medicines all day long, didn’t you hear that? They spread rumors and cover for some important channels such as traffic and police, didn’t you mind that? Forget it, I should not get angry while listening to Brightman’s music.

好幾個晚上都在莎拉布萊蔓輕柔，出色，空靈般的聲音中渡過．我甚至還買了FM射頻器，想要將她的音樂傳送到車用音響中，以便在上下班途中欣賞．但糟糕的是，所有的頻道都被廣播電台占滿了，尤其是地下電台．偉大的新聞局，能否有重要人士來約束這些地下電台．您難道沒聽見他們成天推銷販賣違法的藥品嗎?您難道不介意他們散佈流言，覆蓋掉如交通，警察等重要的頻道嗎?算了，聽布萊蔓的音樂時不該生氣的．

Went browsing Taipei International Book Exhibition 2008 on Saturday even though gaining lots of tiredness recently caused by a series of social activities, drastic exercise, and the coming of the new semaster. I spend most of my visiting time on a soft meeting in which Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, founders of Lonely Planet, gave a speech. Besides, there were another 4 Taiwanese sensible persons of travel invited by the host to share their travel experiences. I did enjoy that very much and also imagined how wonderful it would be if I were a professional traveler. But first, I have to learn some skills to make a living or I'll die of hunger on the way.

儘管一連串社交活動，劇烈運動，加上新學期的到來，使我獲得許多疲勞，星期六我還是去逛了2008年的台北國際書展．我在展場大部分的時間都花在一場很輕鬆的見面會上，在哪兒，Lonely Planet 的創辦人惠勒夫婦為作了場演講．此外，主辦單位也邀了其他四個台灣的旅遊達人來分享他們的旅行經驗．我真的很享受那場見面會，也幻想著如果我是一個專職的旅行家，那該有多好．不過首先，我必須要學些技藝，賴以維生，否則我可能會在旅途中餓死．

Aesthetic feels of nocturnal H.K. 夜香港的美感

Each time while passing through Hong Kong on board of a double-deck shuttled bus at night, I could sense a released soul emerging from deeply inside me. Getting used to the sudden exchange of the regularity of vehicle movements and steep lines of buildings made me feel like dwelling in such a magic mirror that lengthened every images. Pale-yellow lights and dim profiles with the night hanging down seemed to give a soft greeting to me and got me relaxed. They validly reminded me of the starting of my leisure hours. And yes, I loved the entire process pretty much.

每回在夜間過境香港，登上雙層的機場巴士，我就可以意識到我體內深處有釋放的靈魂出現．習慣瞬間交換的交通規則與高聳的建物線條讓我覺得身處於可以拉長每個影像的魔鏡裡．夜幕低垂，昏黃的燈光，朦朧的輪廓看來像是給我輕柔的問候，讓我輕鬆愜意．它們確切的點醒我，休閒的時刻開始了．是的，我很喜愛這整個過程．

Jiang Guo Flower Market 建國花市

Went to the Jiang Guo Holiday Flower Market this Saturday with my friends. It was really crowded over there because of the coming Chinese New Year. People going there can buy plants for the occasion at much lower prices about one month before Lunar New Year than during it. Take a red radish, which chinese regard as a good omen, for example. It costs NT.30 right now, but if you buy it during the period of New Year it may cost NT.250. No wonder many people went there to spend money for saving money this weekend.

這個星期六和朋友去建國假日花市．因為即將到來的春節，那兒還真是人潮洶湧．農曆年前約一個月去那兒的人，可以比起春節期間而言極低的價格，買到應景植物．舉個例子，被中國人視為好彩頭的紅色的菜頭現在一盆值30元，但在春節期間可能要花250元才買得到．難怪有許多人在這個週末去那兒為了省錢而花錢．

New Year's Eve 跨年夜

As soon as coming off duty at 5 p.m. yesterday, I set out to Fa Xiang Cun, an aboriginal village near the famous Qing Jing Farm, to greet the coming year of 2008, arriving at 11:30 p.m.. That means I spent 6 hours on driving to get there and I felt rather tired indeed. It should be a peaceful night, but some villagers were full of anger and caused trouble during the night party because the reconstruction of all villagers' new houses never started. It's been more than 8 years since the horrible 921 Earthquake and many villagers passed away in their broken huts, unable to see their new dwellings. I can realize why they did that, but just can't see why the government stopped building residences two years ago after constructing the new elementary school campus. Please save some diplomatic commission to help them, my Great Government.

昨天下午五點下班，我便動身前往發祥村（清境農場附近的一個原住民部落）去迎接即將來臨的2008年．到的時候，已經十一點三十分．這表示，我花了六個小時在開車，的確我也覺得有點疲累．這該是個平和的夜晚，不過有幾個部落人在晚會期間發脾氣，鬧場，因為所有部落人的新家重建工作，完全沒有開始．可怕的921地震至今已超過八年，許多部落人在殘破的屋中逝世，無法親眼看見新居．我能理解為何他們滋事，但就是不能明白為何政府兩年前蓋完小學的新校園後，就停止建造民居．偉大的政府，請省下些外交佣金來幫幫他們吧!

CSSH's Walk of Fame 清光大道

Went to the Ching Shui Senior High school today to take part in her 17th anniversary celebration, meeting up many of my ex-students who graduated from CSSH and having short chats with them. The main purpose I went there was to see booths prepared by my ex-students in the fun fair and enjoy a singing competition, CSSH's Walk of Fame, that my ex-students contended in for the champion.

There were about one hundred booths and more than eight thousands of people in the campus as usual and I still dare not taste the foods cooked thoroughly by students because of their unskillful cookery. Two of my ex-students persuaded me to consume my shopping tickets in their games to gain some large pneumatic properties such as hammers and swords in case I wanna use something to punish my present students. I did, but those pneumatic toys are too cute to be useful in punishing anyone so I gave them away.

After that, I went watching the singing contest. I think all contestants must have enjoyed themselves to the full due to a nice stage, great equipment, professional adjudicators, and numerous audiences. Finally, one of my ex-students, Feng Changzhi, won a single and a duo, being so excited that he postured to devote his champion cups to me. Indeed, winning the first place amongst five thousand students is worthy of leaping with joy.

　　今天回清水高中參加十七週年校慶，遇到了許多我以前教過已畢業的學生，並聊了一下．這次去那兒的目地，是去看我之前的學生所籌備的園遊會攤位，還有欣賞一個歌唱比賽（清光大道），我教過的學生參與其中，角逐冠軍．

　　清水的校園內如往常般，約有一百個攤位與超過八千名以上的人．而我仍然不敢去嚐那些全程由學生烹調的食品，因為他們的廚藝太生疏了．有兩個我的學生跑來勸說我把點券花在他們的遊戲上，獲取一些充氣道具，如鎯頭，寶劍，萬一我要處罰我現在的學生時，可以用的上．我玩了，但那些充氣玩具實在是可愛到沒有處罰人的作用，所以，我把它們分送出去．

　　之後，我去觀看歌唱比賽．我認為所有參賽者都很過癮，因為有很好的舞台，超棒的設備，專業的評審，以及為數不少的聽眾．最後，我教過的學生－－馮昌之，奪得了個人組及雙人組的冠軍，興奮到作勢要把他的冠軍盃送給我．的確，能從五千個學生中獲取第一名值得雀躍．

6 nights in Beijing 北京六夜

Just paid an educational visit to Beijing during Nov. 5 to Nov.11 with my school principal, director of academic affairs , two section chiefs, ex-president of parents' association, and 68 high school students. We went there to communicate with Beijing No.4 High School and call on the Affiliated High School of Renmim Univ. of China, the Tsinghua Univ., and the Peking Univ.. Besides, we experienced classical leisure and delicasy cultures of Beijing, visited several historical resorts, and pondered on the past. Although it was not a journey for backpackers and I just went there on duty so that I didn't enjoyed it much, I was glad that I knew lots of people, especially Acad. Zhao Yu-Fen, one of the proud of Taiwan, who is an elder auntie of a student, Wu Pei-Huan. She spent her precious time on ushering us around in the campus of Tsinghua Univ. without single haughtiness and showing us her chemical labs. It's conceited KuoMinTang that made her a citizen of China. What a pity that Taiwan lost her!

11月5日到11日，我和學校校長、教務主任、兩位組長、前家長會長、以及68位中學生到北京做教育參訪．我們到那兒去和北京四中交流，並拜訪了人大附中、清華大學、北京大學．此外，我們還體驗了北京的古典休閒文化與美食文化，馮弔了數個歷史古蹟．儘管這不是一個屬於背包客的行程而我也因工作在身玩得並不盡興，我還是很高興我認識了很多人，尤其是中科院院士趙玉芬女士，真是台灣之光．她是學生吳霈桓的大姨，用了她寶貴的時間為我們導覽清華的校園，及她的化學實驗室，沒有絲毫的架子．當初是自負的國民黨使她變成了中國的公民．台灣失去了她實在可惜了！

The 3rd anniversary celebration of the AHSNCCU 政大附中三週年校慶

There was a celebration of the 3-year-old AHSNCCU yesterday. To greet the big day, students had been very busy since the end of the 1st mid-term, even the beginning of this semester. Part of them gave a pop music and hot dance show and really did well on performances yesterday whilst I sensed that most of them had not concentrated their attention on learning in class over the past few weeks, as if they did not act with indulgent audacity in seventeen, they won't have bright life. Hope that they will catch up soon.

昨天政大附中三週年校慶．為了迎接這個日子，學生們自第一段考後就非常的忙，甚至是從學期一開始就忙．部分人還表演了熱門音樂以及熱門舞蹈，的確表現的很棒，而我數個星期來就一直能感覺到這些人大部份沒有把心思放在課業上，彷彿十七歲不痴狂，人生就不璀璨一樣．希望這些人不久後能迎頭趕上．

A Japanese TV movie 一部日劇

Although I've got a lot of tiredness caused by early rising and daily load and need quite much sleep weekends since I started teaching in AHSNCCU, I stayed up last weekend to watch a Japanese TV movie, Kareinaru Ichizoku, that thrilled me deeply when watching. It ends up in a sad situation, leaving me light sorrow. God always envies elites and brings them death as a measure to free them from sufferring and to stop the live rest from attaining to pleasant spiritual life and higher achievement. Similarly, if political leaders of we Taiwanese don't think of broader and more long-ranged vision and do good to Taiwanese, we will lie under heavier darkness.

自從開始在政大附中教書，早起和工作量讓我得到一身疲勞，每週末需要大量的睡眠．儘管如此，上個週末我還是熬夜看了一部日劇，華麗一族（浮華世家），當下使我激動不已．這部戲的結局是個悲劇，留給我淡淡的感傷．老天總是妒忌英才，帶給他們死亡以使其自苦難中解脫，以阻止餘下的世人活得愉悅，更上層樓．同樣的，如果我們臺灣人的政治領袖無法想及更遠大的願景，無法對臺灣人行善，那麼我們將處於更沉重的黑喑中．

Days of seeing Maokong gondolas 看貓纜的日子

I've taught in my new workplace, the AHSNCCU, for some 3 weeks, being able to watch Maokong gondolas crossing above through windows of my office every on-duty day. It made me felt tired to give 19 to 21 classes per week and I'm getting used to it gradually. Although I found the AHSNCCU might not be a utopia like I thought(maybe there is no utopia on earth), I started persuading myself to enjoy its bright side regardless of its darkness, being therefore happy so far.

我已經在新學校，國立政大附中，授課約三個星期了，上班的日子裡可從辦公室的窗外看見貓纜從天上橫過．每星期19至21堂的課務使我感到疲累，而我也漸漸習慣了．我雖然發覺政大附中可能並非如我想像一般的理想境地（也許根本沒有理想境地），不過我早就開始說服我自己去享受光明的一面，不要管陰暗那面，因此到目前為止是愉快的．

Just attended two classmates' parties of my former home room classes. I wish that I could handle the two events at the same time, but I could not cut myself into two pieces . There were many changes that have taken place in their appearances, talking, and dressing. Really great to know they are doing the right things. Many thanks to them for sharing their youth with me.

Know little about my new duty and workplace-- the Affiliated High School of National Chengchi University. It cuts my summer vacation into uncontinuous periods. So I decide to spend the whole July on travel and a workshop. I will go to Zhenzhen through Hong Kong first, and then come back to Taipei to take part in the new teachers' workshop held by AHSNCCU. After that, I wanna be a backpacker in Cambodia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Hope that AHSNCCU will let go my whole August.

對於我的新職責及新職場－國立政大附中所知甚少．這使我的暑假被切成不連續的區間．因此我決定將整個七月的時間花在旅行及一場研習會上．首先我會經香港到深圳，然後回台北參加政大附中舉辦的新進教師研習，之後，就去柬甫寨，新加坡，印尼自助旅行．希望政大附中會放過我的八月假期．

Had a lunch as usual with my friend, kuochang, at noon in my hometown, Chiali, Tainan. We chatted in a happy and relaxed atmosphere and everything was ok. But when the paying time came, I opened my backpack and then found my wallet wasn't there. Thereupon, Kuochang paid the bill. It turned out that I left my wallet in my parents' house and forgot to bring it with me. How terrible my memory is!
ps. I'm sorry, Kuochang, to have you pay, but the meal became more delicious in my mind. Aha!

中午照例和我的朋友，國昌，一起在我的故鄉台南佳里鎮吃午餐．我們在輕鬆愉快的氣氛中聊天，一切都不錯．只是付帳時刻來臨時，我打開我的背包，發現我的皮夾不在裡邊！於是，國昌付了帳．結果是我把皮夾忘在家中，忘了隨身帶著．我的記性真是糟啊！
ps.對不起，國昌，讓你付錢了．不過這一餐還真變得更加美味了．哈哈！

an utterly detestable situation 令人切齒的局勢

According to the latest news, RenMinBi reaches its historical highest summit and keeps rising strongly.That means I shall spend more money when traveling in China in the future. It also recalls me that although Thailand is making a recovery from her coup, she still has brilliant performances on economics--I could exchange NT$1 for THB 1.062 three months ago but only for THB 0.982 today. God! please help save New Taiwan Dollar.

Due to being a home room teacher, I went watching a chorus competition yesterday. Although my home room class did not sing loud enough in chorus and win a higher place, I knew they'd tried their best and was proud of them. However, three of my home room class still won the Best Sideman for accompanying their classmates on the piano, saxophone, and flute. The performances of all classes, by my opinion, were really good last afternoon and I believe all of the 10th graders have learned a lot through it.

My colleages and I elatedly discussed how to be a commercial agent of a name brand to make a great deal of money when taking a break this afternoon. It's totally derived from one of my war trophies from Egypt, a GEOMAG Metal package (see the photo listed). The chat lasted for about one and half an hour and the products we mentioned ranged from toys to cosmetics to drinks......to cram schools. However, we did not wait for the money's arrival and spent on some steamed buns instead. Then, we teased one another about wasting money as soon as we stopped talking.

When I call someone Director, it doesn't mean I respect the guy very much but the position. To gain my esteem, one has to be true to his/her words, introspective and reasonable. Otherwise, I'll just regard him/her as a high-ranking dog, being stern to it. I must admit truckling to others to be quite hard for me, so I always try my best to teach my classes and to manage my tutees to keep my reputation. My colleages used to ask me, "If you wanna challenge a higher appointment, aren't you afraid of falling foul of our superiors so that it will make your feture held back?", and I answered, "The point is it's impossible for me to do that if they are continuing to be our directors. I'd rather be a happy teacher who has long vacations every year than get along with those insincere gain and position followers." Maybe someday I'll become one of them, who knows?

Yesterday, when reaching the toilets my tutees are responsible for cleanning, I found more than twenty junior high students spoiling doors of lavatories inside. I was very angry at it, standing at the entrance, and commanded all of them to stay right there and wait for the drillmaster to take them away, but one of them tried to escape. Although he was taller than me, I could still pulled him back into the toilet without too much effort. Then he shouted that he’ll teach me a lesson, and I just answered “Shut your mouth up” with a loud voice. My tutees watching aside were shocked, because they had never seen me behaving ferociously like that. This was really a not-know-whether-to-laugh-or-to-cry event.

Over the past one week, dwelling in such comfort of sleeping sound sleeps, I made a lot of housework undone so that my bedroom became messy and dusty. Hence, I gave my bedroom some cleaning and arrangement today after getting off duty. When doing this job, I casually found this photo taken on the Caoling Historic Trail at the end of this summer after coming back from India and Mainland China. Those pretty girls and handsome boys , being in their sophomore years , were my students four years ago and invited me to participate in their party. By the way, the Chinese cursive character on the stele in the picture stands for a female tiger , acting on suppressing strong winds.

Went seeing tugs of war competitions 去觀看拔河賽

Received a phone call made by my best buddies in university, I went to Keelung to watch competitions in tugs of war which their students participated in. This was my first time to watch the on-the-spot matches of this kind of sport, and the winners will represent Taiwan and go to Japan for Asia Cup. The entire process was full of marvels that not until the last moment no one could tell which team would win. This was also a rare chance that let us meet up again because they had to deal with various kinds of administrative affairs of schools in the capacity as director, whether on duty or not. I admired for what they have done.

接到大學時代的好友打來的電話，我去了基隆觀看拔河比賽，他們的學生參與其中．這是我第一次觀看這種運動的現場比賽，而勝出的隊伍將代表台灣赴日本比賽亞洲杯．這整個過程充滿了驚奇，不到最後一刻誰也無法分辨那一隊會勝出．這也是一個難得的機會讓我們重聚，因為他們得以主任的身份處理各種校務，無論上班與否．我佩服他們所為．

My colleague lent dvds of a popular serial, nip/tuck, to me a few days ago. I saw one episode each day, feeling surprised at the very complicated interpersonal relationships and the bold conduct of each role in the drama. What’s bad is there were too many English new words in the characters’ dialogue, those are what even I look through dictionaries and can not find either. It’s really fast that languages evolve!

幾天前同事借我一部熱門影集，整形春秋，的dvd．我每一天看一集，驚訝於劇中盤根錯節的人際關係及各個角色的大膽行徑．糟糕的是劇中人物的對白裡有太多的英文生字，那些是我即使翻遍字典也找不到的．語言的進化果真快啊!

Due to the complex cross-Straits relations and political situations, I had better not discuss if the Double Tenth Day is the National Day of Taiwan. What I concerned about today was whether the traffic of the super highways between Tainan and Taipei would be smooth. The answer was a perfect yes. To come as a surprise, there was no traffic jam at all on my way to Taipei this afternoon. This heavily broke the glasses of officers of the Ministry of Communications. Thank God for letting me save a lot of precious time.

This thing, a committee, by my opinion, is mostly impractical in Taiwan because of the lack of the respect for speciality, the obedience to procedure, and the courage to insist principles and tell the truth. This kind of organization often becomes a leading cadre’s tool for endorsement or exists in name only or is not allowed to exist. The same situations happened from the central units to the grass-roots ones. I could just say “a high-ranking official is more erudite”, even if I do not agree this. Over the past years, I , in the education circle, believed that educators should dissolve the conflict of the campus decision with those attitudes mentioned above and requested myself to do that. But now, I am too tired to have myself fight those crafty superiors’ high-sounding tones and perfunctory words. So I quit being any committee member in my school today.

在我看來，委員會這玩意兒在台灣多半是行不通的，因為缺乏尊重專業、遵守程序、以及勇於堅持原則實話實說的態度．這樣的一個組織通常淪為替首長背書的工具，或者形同虛設，再不然就跟本不許存在．同樣的情況上自中央，下到基層皆然．我只能說”官高學問大”，儘管我並不苟同．在過去的歲月裡，我，身在教育界，相信教育工作者應依上述態度來化解校園決策的衝突，並要求自己奉行．但如今，我實在厭煩到不想命我自己去對抗滑頭上級的冠冕堂皇論調外加場面話．所以我今天辭去了所有學校委員的身分．

Visited National Taiwan University with two of my sisters and my nephew this Saturday. A casual walk in the campus made all of us feel comfortable and reminded me of some scenes happened in my undergraduate-hood. Students in NTU were friendly and generous to my nephew, borrowing him a basketball when seeing him chasing theirs and playing with him. We could sense great enthusiasm, cleverness, and sincerity those students scintillated with, which I also had a decade ago. If time could reverse, the position I wanna be the most is an university student.

星期六和我的兩個姊姊及外甥造訪台灣大學．校園裡的漫步使我們全都覺得舒暢，也使我回想起某些大學時代的情景．當台灣大學的學生看見我外甥在追逐籃球時，他們對我的外甥很友善，也很大方，不但借我外甥球，還陪他玩．我們可以感受到那些學生身上散發出的熱情，聰慧，與純真，這些特質也是我十年前所有的．如果時光能倒流，我最想要的身分就是大學生．

I was always in tiredness, felt my internal heat was so great because of little wounds in my oral cavity and just remembered the advantage of exercise again these two days. It was not my laziness that caused me to stop sporting, but the work arrangement and the lack of stadiums were. Before going to India, I used to play badminton twice a week and almost 4-hour’s playing would bring me enough physical vigor. But when I came back and started teaching, I found my school’s gym was no longer opened for teachers to play badminton in and my classes mostly lasted until 5 p.m.－second half of playing table tennis, the only ball game I could go into in my school this semester. Apparently, I have to find another place to do more exercise in expectation of being full of life and energy such as in the past.

這兩天，我老是疲累，由於口腔破洞總覺得火氣超旺，這才又想起運動的好處．並不是我怠惰不運動，而是工作安排與缺乏場館所致．去印度前，我一個星期打二次羽球，幾乎四小時的運動會為我帶來足夠的體力．但當我回國開始上課時，我發現學校體育館不再開放給老師們打羽球，而且我的課幾乎都到下午5點－－打桌球都到下半場了，而桌球又是這學期學校裡我唯一可以從事的球類運動．顯然，我必須另謀他處多做運動，以期恢復往昔般的生龍活虎．

I visited the well-known Yingge Pottery Old Street with my elder sister and colleagues this Saturday. And the next day my sister and I lounged about Jian Guo Holiday Jade Market, which is celebrated both at home and abroad in common with the former one. Maybe you’d think it’s a stupid thing to visit a famous and crowded site on holiday. But things acted out of their character over these few days because of Dumping A-bian and raining. Lots of sellers who did their business in those two places complained that protest activities either took their customers away or made them stay at home, so they could not earn enough money. It’s so bad for them, but I did get a chance to look carefully and unhurriedly at the items that interested me . However, for the sake of my friends’ daily bread, I’d better pray to Heaven not to let those people forget shopping while dumping A-bian.

這星期六我和老姊及同事去了趟大名鼎鼎的鶯歌陶瓷老街．隔天我又和老姊去閒逛建國假日玉市，它可是和陶瓷老街一樣都是馳名中外的地方．也許您認為我們笨到利用假日去那些著名人擠人的地方．不過這幾天的情況可是一反往常的－－因為倒扁和下雨的緣故．在這兩個地方做生意的許多店家抱怨道，他們的顧客要嘛被抗議遊行吸走，要嘛就待在家裡，所以賺不到錢了．這對他們來說真是糟透了，不過我卻因此得以仔細從容地端詳我有興趣的物件．然而，為了朋友們的生計，我還是向上蒼乞求要那些人在倒扁之餘不忘消費好了．

When the airplane I took was landing in Delhi before dawn on July 1, the captain mentioned in radio that the temperature on the ground was 32℃ at that time. This was in accordance with my expectation and I thought I could endure the hot weather. But things became quite different after the sun rose. The temperature up to 41℃ made me feel as though my blood were going to get boiled and start to wonder if I would be baked . All I wanted to do then was slipping into McDonald as soon as possible and swallowed cold drinks and ice creams disregardfully. I’ll never forget how hot it was in this Delhi’s summer.

My nephews, Yufeng and Yolin, often played the roles of my morning bells and evening drums while we lived together in the past one year and five months. This did not mean my nephews always had the strength that made me awaken like Chinese proverb said, but they were so vigorous that I was usually waken up by them in the morning and braced up to lead them to stroll round in the evening. Although it was laborious to stay with them, I cherished every minute we spent in chorus. They are really cute little guys.

我的外甥，宇峰和宥霖，在過去的一年五個月裡我們同住一起時，一直是我的晨鐘暮鼓．這並不是代表他們如中國諺語所說的，有著使我警醒的效力，而是說他們太有活力了，以致於我早晨是被他們喚醒的，而傍晚是被提起精神來帶著他們四處去晃晃的．儘管和他們待在一起很費勁兒，我卻很珍惜和他們一起渡過每一分鐘．他們實在是可愛的小傢伙．

You must have found that I used the word, gasi, as my user id, e-mail account, and even English name. It is a vocabulary of Tayan, a kind of Taiwan aborigines, standing for sugar or candies. When attending NTNU, I joined in the service team of mountain region. Each time I met those Tayan kids, they definitely called me Gasi. This is just because my Chinese name, Kuotang, sounds like fructose in Mandarin wording. And if you read Tangkuo further, that will be quite similar to candy in Mandarin. So, I chose Gasi.

您必定已發現我總用gasi作為用戶代碼，電郵帳號，甚至英文名字．它是一個台灣原住民泰雅族的字彙，意思是糖或糖果．當我就讀台灣師範大學時，我參加過山地服務隊．每次我碰到那些泰雅小孩兒時，他們一定會叫我Gasi．這正是因為我的名字，國唐，用國語發音聽起來像果糖．而且如果您進一步唸唐國，那會很像糖果．因此，我選擇了Gasi．
